‘Hot spell on radar’
The city was rainy on Tuesday, the third day on the trot. Following a spell of overnight rain, the morning was cloudy. The sun made a couple of occasional appearances. But the clouds kept coming back. The overcast conditions kept the Celsius under check. The maximum temperature was 29.4 degrees, three notches below normal. Met officials said the rainy conditions will persist till Thursday. “Another hot spell is expected after that,” said an official.

Ticket touts arrested
Three persons suspected to be touts have been arrested by the Eastern Railway’s vigilance team and the RPF for alleged unauthorised purchase of train tickets from the passenger reservation counters on Russa Road and Cornwallis Street on Tuesday. The arrested persons were charged under Section 143 of the Indian Railways Act and handed over to the Railway Protection Force, railway officials said
Fire in Gariahat godown
A fire broke out in a godown on Rashbehari Avenue on Monday evening, police said. There was no casualty as the godown was shut. The fire was first spotted around 6.30pm. A fire tender doused the flames within a short time, the cops said.
